July 22, 2005

Elk River City Council
Elk River City Hall
13065 Orono Parkway
Elk River, MN 55330

J<'1
.2~
. .?~~j'

Honorable Mayor and Council Members:

I am writing to submit my resignation as a member of the Elk River Library Board effective
August 1,2005. The reason for the resignation is that I am moving out of the city of Elk River
and Sherburne County effective August 1 st.

It is with regret that I submit this resignation. July 26th is the halfway point of the first year of
my third and final term. I have been looking forward to being an integral member of the Board as
plans for expansion or building are being made.

I have kept the Board informed about my plans. However, my house had not sold and I recently
told Board members I would likely be able to continue with my appointment. Circumstances
change quickly and I am now in the midst of moving arrangements.

I have loved serving on the Board. The library is very important to me. Serving on the Library
Board has provided me with experiences, education, friendships, community awareness, political
action, and a sense of progress. Perhaps I will have an opportunity to serve the Library
community wherever I reside in the future; I want to build on the experience and knowledge I
have gained during the 6 ~ years I served Elk River.

Good-byes are difficult, especially when I will miss the other members and I will leave with
work unfinished. I remember clearly the evening I appeared before the Board asking for the
appointment and hoping I would be worthy of acceptance. The Board members with whom I
am currently serving are wonderful, knowledgeable, energetic, and committed. Plans will flow
without an interruption.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.

SincerelYO,,',... /"'v",
/
I
I'
,J.
