Stop Sign RequestAssessment
rd
At Monday May 6, 2019 City Council meeting, Adam Benson (11440 193 Avenue Northwest) requested
rd
a stop sign be installed at the intersection of Dodge Street and 193 Avenue. The engineering department
reviews all stop sign requests and evaluates the need for intersection traffic control changes.
As part of the review, several criteria are evaluated including traffic volumes, number and angle of
approaches, accidents at or near the intersection and sight lines along each approach.

Below is an exhibit showing the existing intersection with posted speed limits, traffic volume and
regulatory signage:

The City has reviewed the intersection operations. Within the last year, one property damage accident
has occurred. Based on the current traffic volumes (counted in 2018), accidentsreportedwithin the last
year and intersection sight lines, the engineering department does not recommend changes to the existing
traffic control.
13065 Orono Parkway
Elk River, MN 55330
763.635.1000

ElkRiverMN.gov
