Appendix A – Recreation Trends Analysis <br />10 <br /> <br />NATIONAL AND REGIONAL PROGRAMMING TRENDS <br /> <br />PROGRAMS OFFERED BY PARK AND RECREATION AGENCIES (GREAT LAKES REGION) <br />NRPA’s Agency Performance Review 2018 summarize key findings from NRPA Park Metrics, which <br />is a benchmark tool that compares <br />the management and planning of <br />operating resources and capital <br />facilities of park and recreation <br />agencies. The report contains data <br />from 1,069 park and recreation <br />agencies across the U.S. as reported <br />between 2015 and 2017. <br />The report shows that the typical <br />agencies (i.e., those at the median <br />values) offer 161 programs annually, <br />with roughly 60% of those programs <br />being fee-based activities/events. <br />According to the information reported to the NRPA, the top five programming activities most <br />frequently offered by park and recreation agencies, both in the U.S. and regionally, are described <br />in Figure 6.
