The city prohibits harassment in any form, including verbal, physical, and visual harassment.
<br />Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, sexually motivated
<br />physical contact or other verbal or physical conduct or communication of a sexual nature that is
<br />interfering with your job performance; or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work
<br />environment; or when submission to such conduct is explicitly or implicitly:
<br />a term or condition of employment; or
<br />a basis for an employment decision affecting your job; on
<br />■ Has the purpose or result or unreasonably interfering with your work performance or creating an
<br />intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.

<br />Some examples of conduct that may be sexual harassment under this policy include:
<br />Use of offensive or demeaning terms which have sexual connotations,;
<br />■ !telling suggestive jokes or stories and conversations about sexual exploits, sexual preferences,
<br />and desires„
<br />Posting iookes, cartoons, pictures, eleetsobjects, or stories which have a sexual content,;
<br />Tthreats, demands or suggestions that an employee's work status, advaneemeiitadvancement, or
<br />other terms and_ conditions of employment are contingent upon the employee's toleration of or
<br />acquiescence to unwelcome sexual advances„
<br />Rrepeated, unwelcome sexual flirtations, propositions, or invitations to social engagements; or
<br />unwelcome and objectionable physical contact or physical proximity.
<br />Types of Disrespectful Behavior
<br />■ Violent behavior including the use of physical force, harassment, bullying, or intimidation.
<br />■ Discriminatory behavior including inappropriate remarks about or conduct related to a person's
<br />legally protected characteristic such as race, color, creed, religion, national origin, disability sex,
<br />gender, pregnancy, marital status, agesexual orientation -gender identity or gender expression,
<br />familial status, or status y6j6fegatd-joregardingf2ublic assistance.
<br />■ Offensive behavior including such actions as rudeness, angry outbursts, inappropriate humor,
<br />vulgar obscenities, name calling, disparaginlanguage, or any other behavior regarded as
<br />offensive to a reasonable person. It is not possible to anticipate in this policy every example of
<br />offensive behavior. Accordingly employees are encouraged to discuss with their fellow
<br />employees and supervisor what is regarded as offensive, considering the sensibilities of
<br />employees and the possibility of public reaction.
<br />AlthouLyh the standard for how emplovees treat each other and the public will be the same
<br />throughout the city there may be differences between work groups about what is appropriate
<br />in other circumstances unique to a work group. If an employee is unsure whether a particular
<br />behavior is appropriate. the emplovee should reouest clarification from their supervisor or the
<br />city administrator.
