It is our recommendation to not
award the contract for Bid Category BC#5A at this time and Terra will re -bid this category to receive
additional competitive bids. This category is as follows:
BID CATEGORY
BUDGET AMOUNT
BC#5A - Steel Supply
$ 295,760.00
Following the bid, Terra did receive an inquiry from Crosstown Masonry. Crosstown Masonry
submitted a sealed bid for BC#3A — Concrete in the amount of $525,000 and a separate sealed bid for
BC#4A — Masonry in the amount of $1,344,000. Neither of which they were the low bidder on. They
also submitted a separate "combined" bid that included both bid categories 3A & 4A in one lump sum
bid. This "combined" bid was not accepted as this was not in compliance with the bidding documents.
Following the bid opening, Crosstown Masonry did ask why this bid was not accepted. Terra referred
Crosstown Masonry to Addendum #2 which was issued prior to bidding that specifically addressed this
question. We have attached a copy of this page from Addendum #2 for your reference.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Respectfully Submitted,
Terra Construction
1474-- A
Ben Newlin
Vice President
Attachment: Elk River Fire Station #3 — Low Bid Summary
Addendum #2 (page 1)
It
