Employee Development / Tuition Reimbursement <br />The city encourages and recommends lifelong learning and offers reimbursement to <br />regular, full-time employees for up to 75% of the tuition paid by the employee, excluding scholarships <br />and grants up to a maximum reimbursement of $3,000 per year (based on the date ..,.:w.b.. fs .1.111 :. <br />paidbudget year the expense is applied) for accredited college or other elasses-instruction directly related <br />to the employee's position with the city. To be eligible for reimbursement the following requirements <br />must be met: <br />1. Prior to elass registration, a completed Tuition Reimbursement Request Forma must be signed and on <br />file with Human Resources; and <br />2. The elass-instruction must be park onto obtain a degree, certification, or licensu-re progfarrr-and <br />apply directly to the employee's position or be required to complete an associate, bachelor's, <br />master's, or doctorate degree in the field in which the employee works; and <br />3. The employee must successfully complete the elassinstruction. If letter grades are assigned, the <br />minimum grade required for reimbursement is a C; and <br />4. The reimbursement must be submitted within 60 days of elass-instruction completion. <br />Books, activity fees, technology fees_and other non -tuition fees -charges do not qualify for <br />reimbursement. <br />All elasses-instruction must be taken on employee time and time spent on elasses instruction is not <br />considered hours worked. If any portion of the employee's class/development activity is conducted <br />during regular work hours, the employee must take vacation or compensatory leave, an unpaid leave of <br />absence, if approved, or arrange for flexible scheduling, if approved by the department director. <br />Courseslasses taken to maintain licensure, affiliation, certification, or credentialing as <br />well as work -related seminars and training are paid for with City Council approved <br />budgeted training fthrads whieh afe budgeted eaeh by the City Ce funds. <br />Employee Wellness <br />In an effort to promote wellness, the city maintains and encourages the use of a fitness room equipped <br />with exercise equipment. The <br />policy attached as Exhibit A must be read, signed, and returned to Human Resources before using the <br />fitness room. Any guests using the room with the employee must have a signed agreement on file with <br />Human Resources. <br />Through -out the year, events are provided by the city's Health Rewards Program Committee to promote <br />overall health and wellness. Participation is encouraged. <br />36 <br />
