General Leave <br />The city recognizes that unique personal nattife circumstances of a uiiique pefsonal aatttfe may cause an <br />employee to seek time off without pay. The city may, at its sole discretion, grant unpaid personal leaves <br />of absence to employees (General Leave). Approval is required from o€ ttheempleyee's immediate <br />supervisor, the -department director, and the city administrator <br />General Leave shall not exceed ninety (90) <br />days, unless speedapproved by ' ~ ~ ��the city administrator. <br />Vacation and sick leave dowill not accrue during a General Leave and the employee on G eaef <br />Letve=F�'&' is not eligible for holiday pay . The city will not contribute to the cost of <br />insurance premiums for an employee on General Leave. <br />Employees are expected to return from General Leave when the reason for the leave expires. -Employees <br />who take a General Leave have no right to reinstatement. <br />Voting and Election Judge Leave <br />Per state statute, evefy employees eligible to vote in an eleetiofi has the right to be absent from work for <br />the time necessary to appear at the employee's polling place, cast a ballot and return to work on the <br />election day of that elect e without penalty or deduction from salary or wages because of the absence. <br />The city or other person may not directly or indirectly refuse, abridge, or interfere with this right or any <br />other election right of an employee. <br />An election means a regularly scheduled state primary or general election, an election to fill the vacancy in <br />the office of United States Senator, United States Representative, State Senator or State Representative, <br />or a Ppresidential Pprimary. <br />State statute also provides for employees to haves paid time off to serve as <br />an election judge with ; at least oven 20� days advance written notice. The city <br />will reduce the employee's pay by the amountthe employee ±s paid to serve as an election judge. <br />Administrative Leave <br />Under special circumstances, an employee may be placed on an administrative leave pending the outcome <br />of an internal or external investigation. The leave may be paid or unpaid, depending on the <br />circumstances, as determined by the cEity aAdministrator. <br />34 <br />
