Request for Action <br />To <br />Item Number <br />Mayor and Ci T Council <br />4.9 <br />Agenda Section <br />Meeting Date <br />Prepared by <br />Consent <br />December 21, 2020 <br />Tim Sevcik, Park and Street Superintendent <br />Item Description <br />Reviewed by <br />Woodland Trails Buckthorn Removal <br />Justin Femrite, Public Works Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the quote for buckthorn removal services from Natural Resources Services at Woodland <br />Trails Regional Park. <br />Background/Discussion <br />In November of 2018, the city was awarded a grant totaling $362,000 for improvements to Woodland Trails <br />Regional Park through the Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program. This grant included funding for the nature play <br />area, picnic shelter, wayfinding signage, archery range and invasive species management. <br />As part of the grant, the city received $30,000 for invasive species management and committed $50,000 from the <br />Park Maintenance Division operating budget as an in -kind match. The city received quotes from four vendors to <br />provide buckthorn removal services across three priority areas within the park with the lowest responsible vendor <br />being Natural Resources Services with a cost per acre of $750 in priority area 1, $573 in area 2, and $753 in area 3. <br />Staff recommends entering into an agreement with Natural Resources Services for buckthorn removal not to <br />exceed $80,000.
