<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 18, 1966 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on July 18, <br />1966 by Mayor Coles. Members present: Mayor Coles, Clerk Briggs, Trustee Bartelt, Trustee <br />Hudson. Trustee Syring was absent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />William Mills and Robt. Dalheim, engineers were present and there was discussion regarding street <br />surfacing and sewer extension. Mr. Mills submitted plans and specifications for the project. A <br />motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt that the plans and specifications be approved <br />and that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids in the official paper and the Construction <br />stthst <br />Bulletin on July 21 and 28, bids to be taken on August 1 at 8:00 P.M. at the Village Hall. Motion <br />Carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked place the following notice in the local paper. “The Village will begin this week <br />to enforce the two hour parking ordinance on Village streets.” <br /> <br />Also notice to residents: “If any peddlers or solicitors appear at your door and do not have a permit, <br />you are asked to call the police.” The fee for a permit for solicitors was set at $10.00 by the Council. <br /> <br />Mrs. Carine Firehammer presented her for assessing for $1,070 which was approved and paid. <br /> <br />A letter was received from the Elk River Chamger of Commerce encouraging the Village to <br />purchase land as to increase the size of Orono Park to provide better use of park facilities.
