<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 16, 1966 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on <br />May 16, 1966. All members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Coles. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were ready and approved. <br /> <br />Harry Dreissig, Fire Chief reported that the Spain house will be torn down and burned very soon <br />unless someone can be found who will tear it doe for the lumber. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Hudson and second by Bartelt, George Dietz and Arlon Fuchs were referred to the <br />Planning Commission regarding the width of the paved strip on streets in the Oak Hills Addition. <br /> <br />Dr. Jarmolok and Roy Spare were present. They renewed the complaint about the outside toilet at <br />Joe Belanger’s place on West Main Street and also asked what disposal is made of sewage at Hugh <br />Owens trailer house near by. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to ask the Clerk to write the Chairman of <br />the Village Board of Health in regard to this mater and ask for a report at the next Council Meeting. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A petition was received from David Plepsen asking for sewer extension North on Proctor Ave to <br />lots 1 and 2 Oak Field Addition. A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson to accept <br />the petition. Carried. <br /> <br />A petition was received and placed on file signed by John Bailey asking that paving be done on <br />Lowell Avenue between Main Street and Highway 10. <br /> <br />A petition was received and placed on file signed by John Bailey and Edwin Dreissig asking that <br />School Street by paved including necessary grading and drainage from Proctor Avenue to Highway <br />101. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson to make Lester Derr’s salary $500.00 per <br />month with three weeks vacation per year to take effect May 15, 1966. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Syring and seconded by Hudson to set the wages of street department <br />helpers at $1.75 per hour straight time and two vacation per year. Also the man who acts as <br />supervisor in the absence of the regular supervisor an extra $10.00 per month. Carried. <br /> <br />Manager Reynolds showed pictures of signs that are being looked at for the Liquor Store. Motion by <br />Bartelt and second by Hudson to spend not over $1500.00 for a big sign.
