<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 02, 1966 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order on May 2, <br />1966 by Mayor Coles. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. All members were <br />present. <br /> <br />Liquor Store manager, Reynolds was present. He asked that the wages of Liquor Store Clerks be <br />raised to $1.50 hr. A motion was made by Syring and second by Bartelt to allow the raise. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Scholter, representing Rauge enterprises, Inc. of Minneapolis attended the meeting. He <br />would like to build three Duplexes next to the Senior Citizens apartments. He showed plans for the <br />project. The Council said he would have to take this up with the Planning Commission. The zoning <br />ordinance would have to be amended for this particular property. <br /> <br />Paul Jones reported drainage trouble on Upland Ave. Attorney Mac Gibbon will look at it. It may <br />not be Village business. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Syring and seconded by Hudson to grant building permits to David Plepson <br />for two houses on Proctor Ave. West of the Senior High School conditioned on the approval of <br />Lester Derr, Zoning Commissioner. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Kenneth Parker has three boys and three girls enrolled in a work corp. He suggests that perhaps <br />they could repair some of the Village books. <br /> <br />The school board would like to have School Street paved also some paving done on Proctor Ave. <br />from Main Street to Highway 10. <br /> <br />Mr and Mrs. Firehammer were present. There was some discussion with the members of the <br />Council regarding the assessment work for the Village. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Syring and seconded by Hudson to accept Bartenders agreement for a raise <br />of 5 cents, 5 cents and 5 cents in wages for the next three years, also for the waitresses of 4 cents, 3 <br />cents and 3 cents for the next three years. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Hudson to authorize Manager Reynolds to purchase <br />a Beer Cooler for the Liquor Store for approximately $450.00. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br /> <br />Webers Texaco – Gas, Oil 418.79 <br />Elkrete Ready Mix – Gravel base $71.20 <br />Minn. Fire Equip. – Mdse. $256.97 <br />K.R Communications – Police radio $35.72 <br />Elk River Hardware – Supplies $9.84 <br /> <br />
