<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 21, 1966 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on <br />March 21, 1966 with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Coles. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Leon Thomas, representing the V. F. W. asked that attention be paid regarding having the flag put <br />up and taken down at the park. The Council will try to get the Chief of Police to look after it. <br /> <br />Fire Chief, Dreissig says there is a tank and pump at Johnsville that can possibly by purchased for <br />$825.00. Altogether the tank and pump would cost about $2,500.00. The Council will leave it to the <br />Firement to decide whether to buy it. A motion was made by Hudson and second by Syring to <br />authorize the purchase of tank and pump and suitable truck. <br /> <br />Jack Bernard again met with the Council regarding his proposed car wash on his property. He was <br />told that he will have to get certain permits from the State before getting started at the work. <br /> <br />Mayor Coles was called from the meeting on account of an emergency at home and acting Mayor, <br />Hilmer Bartelt took over. <br /> <br />A delegation including August Meyer, Dr McNair, Cecil Thompson and Richard Breyen met with <br />the Council regarding the drainage problem North of the tracks. <br /> <br />Upon Motion by Syring and second by Hudson Council agreed to raise the curb on Fourth St. and <br />Irving Ave so as to divert the water south to the ditch at the railroad track, also to contact Engineer <br />Mills regarding drainage across Hoffman property and curb. <br /> <br />Paul Carton will look into drainage from his property across highway at Upland Ave. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Syring and second by Hudson to appoint Leo Wettstein assistant Liquor <br />Store Manager at 15 cents per hour above bartender wages. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write several applicants for Police Officer to have an interview with them <br />th <br />either on March 31 or April 5. <br /> <br />The Council requested that manager Reynolds attend the mid-month meeting of the Council each <br />month. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write John E. Mac Gibbon to give the Council a new price for codifying the <br />Village Ordinances. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />H.A. Briggs <br />Village Clerk <br /> <br />
