<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 1, 1966 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on January 3, 1966. <br />All members were present. Mayor elect Coles called the meeting to order. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. The newly elected Mayor Walt Coles and Trustee Robert Syring <br />signed oath of office. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Barlelt and seconded by Hudson to accept Maintenance agreement with <br />Sherburne County regarding maintenance of streets. Carried. <br /> <br />Richard Gonzall was present. There was discussion regarding the Village Planning Commission. The <br />Planning Commission has a firm in mind who will help in the plannings. It was decided to appoint a <br />member of the Village Council on the Commission. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Briggs to appoint Hilmer Bartelt a member of the <br />Commission to serve till December 31, 1966. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />The following appointments were made by Mayor Coles for 1966. <br />Acting Mayor – Hilmer Bartelt <br />Liquor Committee – Syring, Bartelt <br />Welfare – Briggs, Hudson <br />Streets – Hudson, Bartelt <br />Sewer – Syring, Hudson <br />Parks – Briggs, Syring <br />Permits – Briggs, Hudson <br />Fire Chief – Harry Dreissig <br />Board of Health – Dr. A. B. Roeblke <br /> <br />A motion was made by Hudson and seconded by Bartelt to borrow $9,000.00 from the general fund <br />to pay for Sewer Bonds due February 15, 1966. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bartelt and seconded by Syring to make the Clerk-Treasurer salary $200.00 <br />per month. Carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Syring and second by Briggs the Salary of Chief of Police was set at $400.00 per <br />month. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Barteltt and second by Hudson that the Village Council shall meet twice <br />each month on the first and third Mondays of the month. Carried. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to place a notice in the local paper that applications for Liquor store Manager <br />will be received at the office of the Village Clerk up to January 15th, 1966. The Clerk was asked to <br />send copies of the snow removal ordinance to each service station and garage. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Miller-Davis Co – Blanks $13.73 <br /> <br />
