After
assessing the situation, the BKV team took a step back and master -planned
the entire municipal site. This new plan incorporates both the public safety
department and the city hall into one modern facility.
Combining these programmatic elements into the existing city hall unifies
the complex and supports the building's natural setting. The secured squad
garage is built into the natural bowl -shaped site, reserving additional city park
area as well as providing a necessary security separation of police and staff
vehicles. The landscape supports this gesture with native plantings and low
stone walls.
Plymouth Public Safety Building and City hall received a 2007 AIA Minnesota
Honor Award, 2007-2008 Justice Facilities Review National AIA Academy for
Justice Knowledge: Citation Award and 2007 Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency Governor's MNGreat! Award.
ENRICHING LIVES AND STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES 1 16
