Handout Item 9.1 11/16/2020
My name is Bob Owens. I live at 1790 Tipton Cr NW in Elk River. I moved
here 6 years ago from Coon Rapids. I enjoy the city of Elk River and all it offers its
residents. From the parks to the local eateries and shoppes this town has
something to offer everyone! I would like to invest in the city myself in the form
of two 6-unit apartment buildings. I have owned and managed my own building in
Columbia Heights since 2006 as well as managed and maintained buildings near
mine for other owners.
Each building would have 6 units with 3 bedrooms and 1 bath per
apartment to help address the shortage of 3-bedroom units available in the city.
The Main Street location would also offer balconies to 4 of the units that would
give a beautiful view of Lake Orono. The city’s Comprehensive Plan states that Elk
River is projecting continued population growth and additional housing will be
needed. I, along with my family, would love to be a bigger part of the city with
this housing investment.
I am excited to hear your thoughts and willing to adjust the plan as needed
to accommodate the properties in question.
Thank you for your time!
Bob Owens
