Norman and Mabel Zimmer
also sent an email addressed to the entire Council regarding this matter.

They cited a concern for their personal safety to cross the busy County Road 33 to get their mail. The U.S. Post
Office allegedly would allow their mailbox on their side if located on their driveway loop. They are not
comfortable with it being located within their yard. They understand the Post Office may need to adjust their
routes but stated that times have changed, and traffic has dramatically increased.

They requested the Council send a letter to the Postmaster showing the city’s support of their concerned citizens.

Financial Impact
N/A

Mission/Policy/Goal
The City of Elk River Mission Statement

Attachments
Draft letter

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional

service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity.
Updated: August 2020
