<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 6, 1963 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on May 6, 1963. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Norris to appoint M.F. Lawatch on the Library <br />Board. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to write E.L. Shadick regarding his connection with the village sewer for the <br />confectionery. The sewer is about 65 feet from the property line. However, if the sewer is less than <br />100 feet from the sewer the owner will have to make the connection at his own expense (see sewer <br />ordinance No. 60, Article Two, Section 204.) <br /> <br />The clerk was asked to put notice in paper that the hours for the dump are changed to the old <br />schedule, Thursday P.M. and all day Saturday. Motion by Larson and second by Norris to advertise a <br />hearing for May 23 at 8 P.M. for the purpose of considering zoning changes in part of the village <br />north of Railroad track and west of Jackson Street. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Rev Gall asked for a building permit to erect a fence between the Lindenfelser apartments and the <br />school playground. Permit was granted. <br /> <br />th <br />A special meeting was called for May 13 at 7:30 P.M. to consider the union contract for the liquor <br />store employees. <br /> <br />Mrs. Ethel Olson made application for on and off beer license at the Tip Top Café. Eugene <br />Hoffman was present and turned in his license as he has sold out to Mrs. Olson. <br /> <br />There was some discussion and the clerk was asked to write Mrs. Olson that no license will be issued <br />until after further investigation. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to advertise for bids for liquor dispenser for <br />the Liquor store to be opened on May 20, at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Motion by Norris and seconded by Briggs to buy one station for carbonation for the liquor store <br />from Simderland System. Carried. <br /> <br />John Plaisted was present. He would like to have the village put in concrete curb and gutter to <br />certain parts of town. Nothing further was done at this meeting. <br /> <br />The council agreed to hire Jerry Greupner to work at park work exclusively. Wages $1.25 per hour. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />Fire Department – fires 654.00 <br />Elkrete Ready Mix – road mix 23.00 <br />Vin Holzem – labor 110.00 <br /> <br />
