VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
March 5, 1962

The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Mar. 5, 1962
with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and approved.

About twelve people attended the meeting and there were numerous complaints in regard to the
hauling of village garbage. Many people are not satisfied with the way it is hauled.

A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Briggs to reconsider and rescind the motion to
make garbage disposal compulsory made on Feb 5 and to decide later the details of new plan.

Rollcall vote was – Meyer – no, Larson – no, Kemper – yes, Johnson – yes. Motion carried.

The mayor suggested that a committee made up of Johnson, Briggs and Meyer go to some other
towns and investigate ways that garbage disposal is handled.

Dean Sampson was present. He asked about two tentative plats previously filed in regard to
development near Lincoln School. The Council gave approval of one which included a small t__
park.

A bid was received from Banke Electric for installing a buzzer system in the village liquor store. The
bid calls for seven stations including equipment and price was $82.00. The council agreed to have
Banke do the job.

Lee Bishop and Wilfred Lindenfelser were present. Motion carried all voting in favor.

Trustee Larson brought up the matter of a raise for Henry Keyser, janitor at the Liquor Store.
Nothing was done at this meeting.

The clerk was asked to write the RC.P.A. thanking them for use of their truck and equipment.

Oliver Micheau filed his usual monthly report.

The following bills were approved:
Oscarsons Mobile – gas and oil 135.20
Elk River Utilities – Jan 282.38
N.
