<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 2, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Village Hall on Oct 2, 1961. All <br />members were present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Milne, Accountant, was present. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Larson to employ Mr. Milne to audit the village <br />books at the end of the year. Motion carried. <br /> <br />D.M. Hedden was present. He has trouble with drainage on his lot. Also trouble with sand washing <br />th <br />down on 8 St. The council will investigate. <br /> <br />James Cliff asked for a street in Paradise Park. Council will have Mr. Mills furnish grade level. <br /> <br />Fire Chief asked that a letter be written to the Fire Underwriters Inspection Bureau to have them <br />make a survey of the village fire fighting facilities including new fire truck and improved water <br />system. <br /> <br />Lester Derr would like to have a place to keep the village truck. He can make some alterations at the <br />creamery building so as to put the truck in there. The council said to go ahead. <br /> <br />Supt. Kenneth Parker, Ed Dreissig, and Mrs. Gordon Tesch representing the school board were <br />present. They want a street past the new school between Proctor St. and Jackson St. The council will <br />talk to attorney MacGibbon to see how this can be done either by the school district or the village. <br /> <br />Rev. Gall was at the meeting. He proposed to build a sidewalk along the church property. Village <br />approval was not necessary. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br /> <br />Elkrete Ready Mix – gravel 75.10 <br />Security Printing Co – justice blanks 4.13 <br />Minn Fire Ext Co – supplies 85.02 <br />Sherriff’s Office – prisoner lodging 5.00 <br />Elk River Motor Sales – repairs 5.20 <br />Wm T Mills – services 166.75 <br />Oliver Micheau – car repair 3.00 <br />Elk River Mch Shop – repairs 1.95 <br />Gopher Stamp and Die Co – signs 32.00 <br />Miller Davis Co – blanks 17.44 <br /> <br />
