<br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 4, 1946 <br /> <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the municipal building on November <br />4, 1946 with all members present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />August Meyers was present and asked about drainage of his property. The matter was referred to <br />Trustee Elmer Leger, Chairman of Street Committee. <br /> <br />A representative of the Greyhound Bus company asked that the Village allow Company to have a <br />bus stop along west side of the Standard Oil Station. The matter was held over until a later meeting. <br /> <br />A committee of representative citizens of the Village, with H.R. Caley as spokesman met with the <br />Council. The object of the meeting with the Council was to ask that the Village not make any major <br />commitments until the public is fully informed of amount of expense and the condition of the <br />Village finances. The committee was mainly interested in the purchase by the Village of diesel <br />engines and equipment of the electric light generating plant. The matter was fully discussed by the <br />Council and the Citizens’ Committee, Mayor Davidson and Trustee Skellenger giving the required <br />information. <br /> <br />A motion was made be Kramer and seconded by Leger That Clarence Anderson take over the <br />management of the Midget Base Ball team and have the use of the funds already available. The <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Moody submitted a proposition for financing the purchase of the two diesel engines for the <br />generating plant. The matter was held over for further consideration. <br /> <br />The following election board was approved for the general election: <br />Day Crew: <br />Judges Clerks <br />Eva Berncer Mabel Greupner <br />Eugene Dickey Ruth Vender Berge <br />Susan Dare <br /> <br />Night Crew: <br />Chet. Lockwood H.A. Briggs <br />J.G. Ostby George Kalberg <br />Norman Schwanbeck <br /> <br />Application for building permit for John Orton was up for consideration. Upon motion by <br />Skellenger and second by Leger the permit was refused. <br /> <br />Engineer, Frantz, reported on the progress of the sewer. <br /> <br /> <br />
