<br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 1, 1944 <br /> <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held in the Municipal building on May 1, 1944. <br /> <br />All members were present. <br /> <br />A committee composed Ben Lester, Carl Westbery, John A. Johnson and Lawrence Floodman met <br />with the council and asked help in getting the John Orton placed cleaned up. The council agreed to <br />give the matter consideration and see that something is done about it. <br /> <br />Moved by Kramer and seconded by Leger that $15.00 be allowed for glasses for Mrs. Selhaver. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Rupert Zimmer reported that dumping was not being done properly at the village dump. Signs were <br />ordered to be put up. <br /> <br />Andy Madson asked that a fill be made in his sidewalk. <br /> <br />Motion by Bailey and seconded by Leger that the band stand be painted and repaired. Also, that “no <br />parking” signs be placed in the proper spaces and that signs be placed at the dump and notice in <br />regard to dumpling be placed in the local paper. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Leger and seconded by Kramer that $5.00 be allowed this County Planning Board for <br />post war planning. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to write a warrant for that amount. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid. <br /> <br />Billy Anderson – school patrol - $10.00 <br />ER Power & Light Co. – April - $256.13 <br />ER Power & Light Co. – April liquor store - $2.19 <br />Art Leger – freight on liquor - $9.64 <br />Gamble Store – mdse for liquor store - $.90 <br />NW Bell Telephone Co. – April - $8.55 <br />NW Bell Telephone Co. – April liquor store - $3.85 <br />City Club Beer Co. – Beer - $71.15 <br />Mine Safety App. Co. – mdse for fire dept. - $84.00 <br />Fire Department – service for grass fire - $10.00 <br />Fire Department – service for grass fire - $22.00 <br />J.C. Anderson – election board - $5.20 <br />Eval C. Bernier – election board - $5.20 <br />Mable Grenpner – election board - $5.20 <br />H.A. Briggs – election board - $5.20 <br /> <br />
