<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 4, 1942 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on May 4, 1942 at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor; G.A. Bailey, Trustees; and J. Clinton Walker, Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. L.K. Houlton applied for a permit to move a warehouse into the Rail Road right of way. An <br />agreement was reached with Mr. Houlton providing for the grading of a road in front of the <br />warehouse and a permit was granted for moving the building to the new location. <br /> <br />Mr. Lester Rootes was granted permits for moving two dwellings to new locations. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson representing Fairbanks Morse Co. stated that his company had a 7 ½ H.P. combination <br />motor and pump that could be obtained by the Village for $164.00 F.O.B. Elk River. The Clerk was <br />instructed to get in touch with Mr. Cairneross and to order the pump if Mr. Cairneross about it. <br /> <br />Mr. Ophiem from the welfare office reported that Chas. Adams would be in need of a $6.00 food <br />stamps book for at least another month. A motion was made by Art Bailey and seconded by Clinton <br />Walker allowing Chas. Adams a $6.00 food stamp book. <br /> <br />Mayor Tesch stated that Trustee E.L. Shadick wished to be relieved of the duties of chairman of the <br />Sewer and Water committee because of his work on the rationing board. Mayor Resch, appointed <br />Trustee Frank M. Nickerson to replace Mr. Shadick as chairman of the Sewer and Water committee. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br /> <br />E.R. Tesch, Espense $6.00 <br />Peter Jacob, Blacksmithing $10.25 <br />Harold Keays, Labor $20.00 <br />Ethel Lloyd, Cleaning $3.00 <br />Nickerson Bros, Supplies $3.50 <br />John Bither, Care of Flag $2.00 <br />First National Bank, Treas. Bond Fee $50.00 <br />Cox Lumber Co., Supplies $54.25 <br />Tres. of Fire Dept., Fire Call $33.00 <br />Harold R.
