<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 6, 1942 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on April 6, 1942 at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> M.C. Tesch, Mayor; Frank Nickerson, E.L. Shadick, and G.A. Bailey, Trustees; J. <br />Clinton Walker, Clerk <br /> <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Ophan of the County Welfare Office suggested that we allow Chas Adams a six dollar food <br />stamp book for the month of April. A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. <br />Bailey allowing Chas Adams a six dollar food stamp book for the month of April. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. Bailey allowing the following pinball <br />license at 50.00 for each machine. A.E. Eklund (1), Ida Buryoyne (1), W. Johnson (2), R.C.O. <br />Reilly(2), Leo Varville (2), John Blocker (1), Don Havey (2). Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by Clinton Walker granting non-intoxicating malt <br />liquor license “off” and “on” sale to the following: <br />Walter Johnson of the Canadian Club <br />John Blocker at the Cozy Café <br />Donald Hovey of Hovey’s Care. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey and seconded by E.L. Shadick granting building permits to the <br />following: Leslie Matz, August Leider, Donald Cox, Roger Booth. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by E.L. Shadick and seconded by G.A. Bailey appointing Harold Keays as <br />Supb. of Parks at a salary of $20.00 month for the summer months. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Clifford Martineau asked that a street light be placed on his corner as some of the present lights <br />would have to be moved because of the new road. <br /> <br />The Clerk was instructed to write to P. Caisncron about information in regard to cleaning the water <br />mains. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />E.R. Power and Light Co., Power and Light $258.58 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co., Telephone Rent $12.21 <br />John Bither, Care of flag $3.00 <br />The Federal Store, Flag $8.50 <br />E.L. Shadick, Miscellaneous $17.25 <br />F.W. Nickerson, Surveying $4.00 <br />Robert Cornelius, School Patrol $10.00 <br />Dare’s, Supplies $68.00 <br />Tres. of Fire Dept, Fire Calls $10.00 <br /> <br />
