VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
December 2, 1958

The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on December 2,
1958. All members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Fire Chief Harry Dreissig reported that the old Ford fire truck needs repairs. A motion was made by
Meyer and seconded by Kemper to authorize the fire department to have this truck overhauled.
Motion carried.

The council authorized the clerk to pay August Leiders telephone bill and deduct a small amount
from his wage each week. This is because Les Derr requires Leider to have a phone so he can call
Lieder on mornings when necessary. The phone co. will not install a phone unless an old bill is paid
for.

Engineer Mills and Attorney Mac Gibbon were present. There was a discussion regarding a public
hearing about the three sewer extensions in the village. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded
by Bergerson to advertise for a hearing on this matter for December 15, 1958 at 7:30 p.m. at the
village hall. Carried.

Upon motion by Meyer and a second by Bergerson a public hearing on the disposal plant was also
set for the same time.

A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Kemper to empower Mayor and clerk to enter
into negotiations with the Power and Light Commission for a loan to pay for the new fire truck and
equipment on the best terms possible. As the old bath house
at the park is of no further use to the village a motion was made by Kemper and seconded by
Briggs to give the old bath house formerly used by the girls to the Boy Scout Troop No. 90. Carried.

Upon motion by Briggs and second by Myer the following were appointed on the Library Board:
Mrs. Robert Haight, Rev. Donald Rice, and Milton Dwyer.

Bernard Fiero was present. He asked for help with his wife who must have an operation.
