<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 8, 1958 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the village hall on September 8, <br />1958 with all members present. The meeting was called to order by mayor Johnson. The minutes of <br />the last meeting was read and approved. <br /> <br />At this meeting, the council went on record for proceeding with street near Russell Oliver’s as soon <br />as we get the deed. <br /> <br />Leon Burton was present at the meeting. He asked to be appointed Deputy Police in case Chief <br />Michean needs extra help. The matter was left to Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />Thane Muriel attended the meeting. He wanted to know if anything had been done about the sewer <br />extension in the west part of town. The clerk reported that he had not yet received word from the <br />State Board of Health in regard to making more conversation to the village sewer. A motion was <br />made by Sandberg and seconded by Bergerson to call a hearing regarding the sewer extension for <br />October 6, 1958. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A delegation from the fire department was present. Myron Hetrick was spokesman. They would like <br />a new door for the fire hall to make room for the new fire truck. The mayor appointed the following <br />committee to get prices and use their judgement in buying a door. Sandberg, Bergerson, Lester Derr, <br />Harry Dreissig and Myron Hetrick. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bergerson that the council go on record as favoring a conventional type <br />sewer disposal plant rather than the lagoon type. This was upon recommendation of Lindsey, Carter, <br />and Associates. <br /> <br />Police Chief Oliver Michean asked about buying a car for the Police Department. Trustees, Briggs, <br />and Meyer were appointed to make up specifications for the car. <br /> <br />Earl Hohlen brought up the matter of a trailer park There was some discussion, but nothing further <br />was done about it. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />H.L. Johnson – business expenses - $6.00 <br />Dale Kramer – janitor - $5.00 <br />John E. MacGibbon – services - $120.60 <br />Earl Hohlen – loading $52.00 <br />Mrs. Zella M. Page – books - $148.40 <br />Fire Department – fires - $36.00 <br />Lindsey, Carter & Associates – sewer - $196.18 <br />Elk River Concrete Prod. – tile - $820.07 <br />Star News – printing - $7.50 <br />Anthony Burgayne – hauling ? - $207.75 <br />Standard Oil Co. – gas - $1.29 <br />Lewis Service – gas & oil - $33.56 <br />Ruth Kramer – asst. $23.00 <br /> <br />
