<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 2, 1958 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Village Hall on June 2, 1958. Members <br />present: Mayor Johnson, Trustees Sandberg, Bergerson and Briggs. The minutes of the last meeting <br />were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Sandberg and seconded by Bergerson to allow expenses of man to School of <br />Hazards of Atomics Industry. Carried. <br /> <br />Bids for the erection of a bath house at the park were opened. Upon motion by Sandberg and <br />second by Briggs the contrast was awarded to the Central Lumber Co. of Elk River at a cost of <br />$3,325.00 this being the lowest bidder. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Sandberg and second by Briggs $200.00 was appropriated for expenses of delegates <br />to the Firemen’s Convention. <br /> <br />A delegation from Upper Town with Howard Wirtz as spokesman met the Council. They presented <br />a petition for sewer extension. The Council agreed to get estimated cost of the extension before <br />going further. <br /> <br />James Thomas and Howard Wirtz were present. They asked that the part of Walnut Street between <br />Main Street and the lake be vacated. The matter will be taken up after further investigation. <br /> <br />The matter of a possible sire for a lagoon for sewage disposal was up for discussion. A motion was <br />made by Sandberg and seconded by Bergerson that the Mayor appoint a committee authorized to <br />negotiate for options on land suitable for a lagoon subject to approval of Council at the next <br />meeting. Motion carried. The Mayor appointed Sandberg and Briggs on this committee. <br /> <br />Motion by Bergerson and seconded by Briggs to set bond for club liquor license at an amount not <br />less than $1000.00. Carried. <br /> <br />Earl Hohlen attended the meeting. He inferred about the possibility of establishing a trailer court in <br />the Village on the Burns Road.
