VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING
January 5, 1958

The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was held at the Municipal Building on January
5, 1958 with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Garry Rivers and Roger Johnson were present. He said they had organized a local club for the
purpose of giving assistance to persons having car trouble. They asked permission to put an old car
on the ice of the Lake Orono and sell chances as to what date it would go down in the spring. This
was to raise some money for the club treasury. It was understood that the site of the car was outside
the Village limits so nothing further was done about it by the Council.

The following new members were sworn in at this meeting:
Henry L. Motion carried.

August Leider was present and asked for a raise in wages. Upon motion by sandberg and second by
Briggs, Mr. Leider was given a raise to $1.15 per hour.

Fire Chief, Harry Dreissig, was present. The matter of a new fire truck was discussed. The manner
of financing the purchase of the truck was the problem. The financing will be taken up later.

A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Sandberg to appoint William Patenaude Jr. on
Power and Light Commission.
