<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 5, 1956 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on <br />November 5, 1956. Members present: Schwartz, Meyer, Bailey, and Briggs. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Briggs to renew on and off beer license for Sherman <br />Sachs. Carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Lowell H. Benson of the K.M. Clark Engineering Co. was present regarding a village sewage <br />disposal system. He explained about the Lagoon Plan of disposal which is in use in several <br />communities. <br /> <br />Donald Henderson and Ed Kliener met with the council. They are interested in establishing a deer <br />sanctuary on certain land including the village dump. A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by <br />Bailey to table the matter until it can be investigated. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Archie Larson and Mrs. M.W. Tierman attended the meeting. They suggested that some waste <br />paper containers placed along Main Street would help take care of waste paper thrown along the <br />street and in the yards. The council agreed to give this due consideration. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer to set the hours of the coming Village <br />election at 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. Carried. <br /> <br />The Council decided to make a change in the Village plans to have one phone for the fire <br />department and Police Department and one for the Library and Village Hall. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyer to have only three members on the <br />December Village Election board. Once clerk and two judges. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br /> <br />Nickerson Bros – mower rental 26.29 <br />Oswald Pub Co – justice blanks 3.54 <br />Minn Fire Ext Co – supplies 4.50 <br />Minn Fire Ext Co – supplies 15.50 <br />Anoka Shopper – printing 10.50 <br />Leger Truck – freight 2.00 <br />Bi-Lateral Fire Host Co – hose 274.39 <br />Olsen Insp. Co – loader 214.00 <br />Olsen Insp Co – hyd lift 498.00 <br />Farm Bureau – gas and oil 34.18 <br />Star News – printing 19.20 <br />Monticello Ready Mix – concrete 318.00 <br />Central Lmbr CO – lumber 65.01 <br />Elk River Imp. Co – oil, gas, supplies 24.88 <br />Coast to Coast Store – mdse 1.49 <br /> <br />
