<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 6, 1955 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on June 6, 1955. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Edward Schwartz, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor Schwartz. The minutes of the last meeting were read <br />and approved. <br /> <br />A delegation from Anoka met with the council regarding garbage collection in Elk River. There was <br />some discussion but upon motion by Bailey and second by Dow the matter was tabled until the July <br />meeting. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Dow to raise pay of August Leider to $1.05 per <br />hour. Carried. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to let manager Balow of the Liquor Store employ a warrant to wait on the <br />booths. <br /> <br />Stanley Wheaton was present and again brought up the village insurance plan previously discussed <br />by the council. The following motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer: <br /> <br />I move that the First National Bank Agency of Elk River, Minnesota, be named agent of record for <br />the Village of Elk River to handle all their insurance matters and be insurance advisor for the village <br />council and to adopt the insurance program that they propose and that the First National Bank <br />Agency shall pay at the end of each calendar year the following agents the following percentages of <br />net commissions earned during that year from village business that they now write to compensate <br />them for the loss of such business with the understanding that this will be paid to these agents only <br />and only during the time that they continue in business in Elk River: <br />G.A. Johnson 10% <br />Elk River Ins. Agency 11% <br />T.H. Daly 29% <br />I further move that this motion be made a permanent record in the books of the Village Clerk and if <br />passed shall remain in force until rescinded by majority vote of said village council upon two weeks <br />written notice of such action to said agent of record. <br /> <br />After discussion and before the motion was put to a vote a motion was made by Briggs and <br />seconded by Dow to amend the above motion to hold action on the motion until next meeting at <br />which time vote will be taken. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyers that the village will build and maintain a <br />service road on right of way from Station 1865 to 1877 as shown on prepared map provided the <br />village gets access to said strip along Highway No. 10. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />
