<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 8.2 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent October 5, 2020 Ron Nierenhausen, Chief of Police <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Open Bodycam Proposed Purchase to Public Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Comment <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Direct, by motion, the Elk River Police Department to seek public comment per state statute on the department’s <br />proposed body camera program. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The police department is in the process of implementing a bodycam program and per Minnesota State Statute <br />626.8473, the next step in implementing the program is to give the public a chance to express their opinion as to <br />the merits of such program. <br /> <br />Constituents should email City Administrator Cal Portner, at cportner@elkrivermn.gov by October 18, 2020.
