<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 2, 1952 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on June 2, 1952. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> E.A. Parent, Mayor; Harry Dow, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Parent. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding to employ Oliver Micheau as village marshall <br />at a salary of $265.00 per month and $35.00 a month for use of car. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ryding and seconded by Briggs to pay the Barbarosa registered warrant <br />amounting to $2000.00 and interest. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Dow to transfer funds from the Liquor Fund to the <br />Sewer Fund to pay $5000.00 of registered sewer warrants and interest at the Bank of Elk River. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />There was considerable discussion in regard to parking space for Greyhound buses. A motion was <br />made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to give permission to the Greyhound to park one bus and <br />only one at a time on the southwest corner of the village park. This to be for a trial period only. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />A delegation from the local Fire Department asked for an appropriation for Convention expense. <br />Motion by Bailey and second by Ryding to allow $200.00 for this purpose. Carried. <br /> <br />There was some discussion in regard to the appointment of Supt. Of the Water, Power and Light <br />Commission but no definite action was taken. <br /> <br />At this meeting the Council agreed to do black top on approximately six blocks of streets this year. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Vernon Cemetery Assn – dues 6.00 <br />Elmer Hatchery – sprayer 9.60 <br />Liquid Carbonic Corp – supplies 2.75 <br />E.R. Concrete Prod Co – concrete pipe 34.80 <br />Clinton Walker – groceries Kalas 30.00 <br />Hettrick Bros – gas and oil 17.38 <br />D.J. Wall – fire hose 285.00 <br />Fire Department – fires 91.50 <br />Central Lmbr Co – screen 5.49 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 33.06 <br /> <br />
