<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 5, 1951 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Mar 5, 1951. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> R. A. Ellingson, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ryding, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, <br />Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />T.H. Daly was present and asked about the expense of cleaning out the sewer in the street in front <br />of his property. He stated that he had already paid for that part on his own property. The Council <br />approved the bill. <br /> <br />Dr. Huseth met with the Council and complained that the assessment of his office equipment was <br />too high in comparison with similar equipment in the village. After some discussion a motion was <br />made by Briggs and seconded by Ryding to agree to a reduction of the assessment from $1200.00 to <br />$900.00. The Council acting as an adjourned meeting of the Board of Equalization agreed to this <br />and the motion carried. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Harry Dreissig and Oliver Micheau representing the Fire Department the <br />Council approved having a two inch lead from the water main to the fire hall for the purpose of <br />getting water more quickly for fires. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Ryding raising the clerks salary to $50.00 a month. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Bond of Irven Hawkins of $500.00 for village assessor approved upon motion by Bailey and <br />seconded by Ryding. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Parent to raise Lester Derr’s salary to $275.00 a <br />st <br />month beginning Mar 1. Carried. <br /> <br />A bill of Foltz, King and Day for $93.26 which has been a matter of discussion for some time was <br />finally approved by the Council at $25.00 and the clerk was instructed to send them a warrant for <br />that amount. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and ordered paid: <br />Bernard Service – gas and oil 40.09 <br />First Nat’l Bank – insurance 123.16 <br />Nickerson Bros – truck tire and mdse 79.00 <br />E.R. Concrete Prod Co – chloride 22.80 <br />Wm Frye – services 5.60 <br />Board of Education – bond 350.00 <br />Board of Education – summer recreation 1950 400.00 <br /> <br />
