<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 7, 1949 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Feb 7, 1949. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Oscar Odegard, Mayor; Emil Parent, Dan Bailey, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees <br /> <br />R.A. Ellingson acted as clerk in the absence of the regular clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as amended. <br /> <br />A letter was received from Mrs. Florence Taylor asking for an additional $5.00 a month for the care <br />and maintenance of her sister, Grace Kenniston. Upon motion by Parent and a second by Ellingson <br />the request was granted. All members voting in favor. <br /> <br />An application was received from Lewie R Munich for building a garage. As this was in a residential <br />district, the application was held over until a later date or until the village ordinance covering this <br />matter could be looked up. <br /> <br />The annual report of the Library was received and placed on file. <br /> <br />Councilman Bailey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />Resolved that the village council does hereby approve the classification of the following properties <br />as non-conservation property: <br /> <br />N ½ of Lot 5, Block 2, except highway: Lot 7, Block 2, except highway; N. 87 feet of Lots 6 and 7 <br />Block 3 except Highway. That the mayor and clerk be authorized to execute the classification blank <br />for the County Board of Sherburne County as being forfeited lands so that the County may put <br />these properties up for sale. The resolution was seconded by Ellingson and was carried. <br /> <br />A.G. Madson appeared and asked for an increase in rent for the Liquor Store from $40.00 to $50.00 <br />a month. The matter was discussed but no action was taken as the Council wanted to check into the <br />matter further. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Jan 8.90 <br />Middlestadt Bros – Mdse Lbor 302.22 <br />Galchutt Hdwe – mdse 5.82 <br />August Leider – labor 29025 <br />Ted Mickelson – labor on streets 67.60 <br />Zella M Page – salary 45.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 19.24 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – Hyd rent 52.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – Jan 480.48 <br /> <br />
