<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 1, 1947 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Building on Dec 1, 1947. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Glenn Davidson, Mayor; Elmer Leger, Walter L Johnson, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; <br />H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Mrs. Alden Taylor was present at the meeting and asked help from the village for her sister, Miss <br />Kenniston. The Council agreed to have an investigation and a medical examination to determine <br />what is the proper thing to do. A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Briggs to allow <br />Mrs. Taylor $25.00 a month beginning with the month of November until further arrangements can <br />be made. The motion was carried and the clerk was instructed to issue Mrs. Taylor a warrant for <br />$25.00 for member. <br /> <br />Les Derr reported that there is about 200 feet left to do on the sewer mains. The Council decided to <br />continue the work by hand labor for a few days or as long as seems expedient. <br /> <br />V.B. Skellenger, Chairman of the Water, Light and Power Commission, inquired regarding the <br />possibility of using part of the Municipal Building for offices of the Commission. On account of the <br />high cost of remodeling it was decided not to do anything for another year. <br /> <br />Mrs. Ann Babcock’s resignation from the Library Board was accepted and upon motion by <br />Ellingson and second by Briggs and following were appointed on the Library Board for the coming <br />year: <br />Mrs. Charles Guptil <br />Mrs. A.B. Roehlke <br />Mrs. Water Sorenson <br /> <br />The Clerk was instructed to consult with the village attorney regarding an ordinance regulating used <br />car lots having cars for sale or repair. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />Charles M Nelson – Nov salary and car 235.00 <br />H.A. Briggs – Nov salary 40.00 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Nov 40.70 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />Zella M Page – Nov salary 35.00 <br />Zella M Page – library books 37.29 <br />Liquid Carb Corp – supplies fire dept 6.70 <br />E.R. Lumber and Mch Co – mdse 124.83 <br />E.R. Lumber and Mch Co – fuel 105.06 <br />James D Thomas – non salary 185.00 <br /> <br />
