<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 6, 1947 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on Oct 6, 1947. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Elmer Leger, Walter L Johnson, R.A. Ellingson, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor Leger. The minutes of the last meeting were read <br />and approved. <br /> <br />Wesley Kluge was present and asked if anything had been done regarding the petition about his used <br />machinery lot. The matter was held over for the present. <br /> <br />There was some discussion which Mrs. Selhauer regarding her day. She was required to keep the dog <br />shut up or on a leash. Mrs. Selhauer also made a complaint about children riding bicycles on the <br />sidewalks. The clerk was asked to look up and see if there is a village ordinance regulating or <br />prohibiting bicycle riding on the sidewalk. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to call the Highway Department in regard to the sidewalk in front of the <br />new Tucker Building. <br /> <br />William Brown was present and showed the council a sketch of the new street to be opened up in <br />Alfred Brown vicinity. Members of the Council agreed to go up and see where the new street is to <br />go. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Johnson to transfer $2000.00 from the Poor Fund <br />to the General Fund. Carried. <br /> <br />It was suggested by the Council that the village Marshall be asked to take care of the furnace at the <br />Municipal Building. <br /> <br />Councilman Leger proposed an ordinance regulating sewers and sewer connections and asked that <br />the Village Attorney be instructed to propose such an ordinance from information furnished by the <br />League of Minnesota Municipalities. This was second by Ellingson and passed on members present <br />voting aye. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved and ordered paid: <br />H.A. Briggs – Sept salary 40.00 <br />Charles M Nelson – ½ mo salary 117.50 <br />N.W. Bell Telephone Co – Sept 8.85 <br />Elk Café – meals for transient 2.10 <br />Davis Food Market – supplies for jail 1.10 <br />Zella M Page – Sept salary 35.00 <br />Zella M Page – janitor service 7.00 <br />E.R. Utilities – Sept 198.72 <br />J.H. Daly – insurance 286.28 <br /> <br />
