<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 7, 1947 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Municipal Bldg on April 7, 1947. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Mayor Glenn Davidson, Elmer Leger, R.A. Ellingson; H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Davidson. <br /> <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Leger that the resignation of Trustee V.B. <br />Skellenger be accepted with regret. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Leger and seconded by Briggs that Walter L Johnson be appointed to finish the <br />unexpired term of Trustee Skellenger. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The clerk prepared an Oath of Village officer which was signed by Mr. Johnson. <br /> <br />Application for building permit signed by M.J. Egleston for Jordal Adm Co for the erection of bill <br />board on new highway was discussed. As no one offered any objection a motion was made by <br />Ellingson and seconded by Leger that permit be granted. Motion carried and clerk was instructed to <br />issue permit. <br /> <br />Herbert Greupner asked that village furnish a man or truck occasionally to help at the ball park. The <br />Council agreed to co-operate with the ball team whenever possible. <br /> <br />A committee with R.K. Wilson as chairman discussed with the Council the matter of the new depot. <br />It was decided that it was not necessary to employ an attorney but to ask J.W. Clark to represent the <br />village at the depot hearing along with Mr. Wilson. <br /> <br />Wm Greupner asked that the Council look into the matter of grades for street and sidewalk on the <br />street to the fair grounds. The Council agreed that this should be done. <br /> <br />The Council also agreed to investigate the proposed change in the street between Nogel’s and the <br />Meadowvale Road. <br /> <br />Gust Johnson and Marley McPherson asked to have some of the village insurance businesses. The <br />council promised to give them some of the insurance on the new electric light building. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Ellingson and seconded by Johnson that Joan Le Febvre salary be raised to <br />$125.00 a month. Carried. <br /> <br />The matter of hiring a man or electric light superintendent was discussed. A motion was made by <br />Ellingson and seconded by Leger to hire Geo Wambill at a salary of $325.00 a month for the first six <br /> <br />
