Sherburne County Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan, 2020 <br />SHERBURNE COUNTY <br />201k) MLJLT1-HA/ARD MITI(;Af1oN IrIAN 011DATF - MtFFTING INVITATION <br />Greetings, <br />Your prewnce is requested at a Planning Team Meeting for the update of the 2019 5herbume County <br />Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan- You are requested to participate in this vital meeting because you have a <br />WAition of adnimistrative or departmental tesponsibdity within either the County, a mtuutrcipal <br />government, or are a key stakeholder related to the planning process. <br />Meetinf Detail <br />Date: Friday, May 31, 2029 <br />Time 10-.00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. <br />halation: Sherburne County Sheriffs Office - COC <br />113900 Business Center Drive, Elk River, MN 55330j <br />About the Plan <br />The update of the Sherburne County Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP) is a requirement by the <br />State of Minnesota Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) as well as the <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency {FEMAj every 5 years. Our 2013 plan is due for an update and <br />our planning Is currently underway. The pLan addresses the natural hazards that face Sherburne County <br />and will result in the identification of mitigation actions that will help to reduce or eliminate the impact <br />of future hazard events, such as flooding and severe winter or summer storms. <br />Your participation in this plan update is important for several teasons: <br />1. you will help to identify critical mrtigatton projects to implement at the county / local level, and <br />how they can be rntegyated with existing plans, padities, ar project efforts. <br />2. Pa rt itipating jurisdictions will be cliWble to apply for FEMA hazard mrtlgatron grant lundirtg. <br />3. Mitigartion planning is necessary to keep our communities resilient against future disasters and <br />reduce the costs of recovery. <br />4. FFMA requites documentation of how local government and key stakeholders participated in <br />the planning process. <br />During this meeting we will review and rank the natural hazards that pose risk Sherburne County and <br />individual communities and discuss a range of mitigation measures tot local implementation. the <br />meeting will be fauIttrted by personnel from the Unrvt-rsity of Minnesota Duluth - Geospatial Analysis <br />Center team who are working closely with us Dn this project. <br />Please RSVP <br />Please RSVP rack to me to indicate your attendance.
