From:
Marie Gerads
To:
Carlton. Zachary
Subject:
[EXTERNAL] Revised Letter / Tall Pines
Date:
Monday, May 18, 2020 4:02:09 PM
Elk River City Council
We have lived in Ells River since 1988 in a single family home raising our
family. Many of our friends and other retirees have decided at this time to downsize
to a patio home or one level detached housing. In trying to stay in the Elk River area,
we have found very few areas that have one level detached housing.
Our investment in staying in Elk River requires an additional cost, which means we are
investing in the community. Some of the features we have looked for include one
level detached housing, location being close to shopping, close proximity to major
highways, and neighbors that are in our age group.
We feel fortunate that we found those features in the Tall Pines II development and
looking forward to moving in very soon. We are now in the process of selling our
two-story home. We were pleased to hear that the close surrounding area would
include more one level patio homes, which would add to the value in the future of the
detached patio home that we purchased in Tall Pines IL Even though the detached
patio homes are somewhat identical, the developer has done a wonderful job of
keeping the number in each area down, and individualizing each detached
home. Having light or commercial buildings surrounding us is not what we were
looking for when we were looking to downsize. We need the city to remain supportive
of our investment and the future value of our home.
I remember the sign entering Elk River vividly when we moved in: Where the City
and the Country Flow Together. Tall Pines II and the next development of Tall Pines
is an investment in the future of the community.
Thank you,
Ron and Marie Gerads
