<br />Minutes <br />Elk River Library Board Meeting <br />June 28, 2005 <br /> <br />The Board and guests from the city of Elk River toured the Monticello Library <br />and then met in their conference room. <br /> <br />Leslie called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Mick Stoffers, Leslie Anderson, <br />Anne Schroeder, Mike Hangaard, Karen Stelk, Allison Olson and <br />John Dietz were in attendance. Joan Allen of GRRL and Chris Leesburg, Pat <br />Klaers and Bill Mertz of the City of Elk River were present as guests. <br /> <br />The minutes from the May 2005 meeting were approved. <br /> <br />Mick reported no correspondence, no suggestions and no Treasurer' Report. <br /> <br />Leslie opened the floor to a discussion about what should be included in a <br />survey about the Elk River Library use and possible expansion. The survey will <br />be available at City Hall, Lion's Park and the library. It will also be <br />included in the next parks and recreation brochure going out from the city in <br />September. The brochure form of the survey will look different from the survey <br />available at the library, Lion's Park and the city offices. <br />Those who complete the survey can return it to Lion's Park or the library and <br />will be entered in a prize drawing. Mick will ask the Friends of the <br />Library to donate the prize. The survey will have a deadline of November <br />1, 2005 for a response. The survey will be two-sided. The reverse side will <br />have directions, address information and a statement that results will be <br />published on the city website and available in hard copy in the library. <br />Suggestions for the survey included: <br /> <br />Leaving space at the end for "other comments". <br />How often do you use the library? <br />Would you use a coffee shop if one were added to the library? <br />Rate the following priorities (1 most important, 4 least important) <br />More quiet study areas <br />More seating areas <br />More community space <br />Large children's space <br />Where would you prefer the library to be located? City Hall, Current Location, <br />Lion's Park If you use the library computers, do you use them for? Internet <br />access, or word processing/other What improvements do you suggest for the <br />library? <br />Besides the staff, what do you like best about the Elk River Library? <br />What do you like least about the Elk River Library? <br /> <br />Allison will draft the survey and email it to members of the library board for <br />comment, correction and additions. <br /> <br />In other business, Karen reported that 6 more chairs had been ordered for <br />the library. In lieu of traveling to any other libraries, Chris and Bill <br />will prepare a slide show of the new libraries being built in Chisago County to <br />be presented at the board meeting in July or August. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m. <br />
