UTILITIESCOMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />May 12, 2020 6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Delivered five new water meters. <br /> Sealed the water meter, installed an encoder receiver transmitter, and took curb stop <br />ties from three water services. <br /> Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br /> Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards. <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br /> Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plantsto the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br /> SubmittedDMR for the Diesel Generation Plant to the MPCA. <br /> Work has continued on the Auburn Street Water Tower restoration project. Painting on <br />the interior of the tower is complete, and the containment curtain has been removed. <br />Once the city logo has been painted, the remainder of the finish coat of paint on the <br />exterior can be applied. Disinfection of the tank and filling with water will follow shortly. <br />Sprintsent notice that they intend to terminatetheir leases for Auburn Street, Gary <br />Street, and Johnson Street Water Towers. They will be removing their equipment from <br />each site. The current annual payment from Sprint for all three towers is $130,504.82. <br />Water department staff have been working with city staff and contractors on replacing a <br />portion of the water service to the new multipurpose facility. <br /> Freeport Water Tower has been refilled with water, passed water sample tests, and put <br />back in service for the season. <br /> We flushed fire hydrants May 4-8.
