<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 3, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on July 3, 1961 at the office of Trustee Robert Kemper. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacob W. Rosholt made application for an on and off beer license on Main Street location <br />formerly occupied by the Main Street Tap. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Mayer <br />to grant this license to Mr. Rosholt. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Hageath of the Sherburne County Welfare Board made the village a proposition <br />whereby the County would take over all our welfare cases and bill the village at the end of the year <br />for our share of the expense. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Larson to accept the proposition and have <br />agreements signed with the County. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Roland Wilson and Dan Bailey were present. There was some discussion in regards to the summer <br />recreation and also in regard to buildings being moved in the village. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer that in the case of any Municipal employee <br />two garnishments on any one would be grounds for dismissal. Carried. <br /> <br />Village Attorney, John MacGibbon submitted a new sewer ordinance which was read. <br /> <br />Pat Donahue was present at the meeting. He asked if the village would put an oil cost on the parking <br />lot opposite August Meyer’s building and the post office. The Council agreed to do this. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Ruth Kramer – asst Librarian 27.00 <br />Clarence Kramer – janitor 7.50 <br />Tomel Co – labor and material 16.48 <br />City of Minneapolis – Thompson case 120.00 <br />Elk River Clinic – Barnier ins 9.00 <br />Coast to Coast – mdse 3.84 <br />Elk River Hdw – mdse 2.15 <br />Elk River Auto Imp – starter 43.65 <br />H.L. Johnson – expense 1.40 <br />Weber’s Station – gas and oil 5.15 <br />Uptown Welding – repairs 3.00 <br /> <br />
