<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 5, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on June 5, 1961. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Kemper to vacate parts of Fourth Street, King <br />Street and Railroad Drive as shown on petition signed by R.R. Shulze and Ben Roper on file with <br />the Village Clerk. Motion carried. <br /> <br />John Bailey and Keneth Parker were present representing the Board of Education. They would like <br />an extended program for recreation for the summer, something that would include something for <br />the girls as well as the boys. A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer that the village <br />the school board $666.00 for summer recreation for this year instead of the $400.00 appropriated <br />last year. Carried. <br /> <br />Mac Hamlett met with Council. He represents the cemetery association. And asked the village to <br />make an endowment of $120.00 for the perpetual care of the Vernon cemetery lot. We have been <br />paying a yearly fee. A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Larson to agree to this <br />proposition. Carried. <br /> <br />Pat Donahue and others are putting in curb and gutter on their street. They ask that village pay for <br />the engineering and grading and they will pay the rest. Motion by Meyer and second by Briggs that <br />the village do this. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Kemper to allow $200.00 for the Firemen’s <br />Convention. Carried. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed: <br />Skelly Oil Co – fuel Kluge 7.75 <br />Gerald Alferness – broom rent 55.00 <br />Lewis Service – repairs 4.80 <br />Construction Bulletin – ad 17.20 <br />Anoka Tractor Co – repairs 40.49 <br />Doeblers Pure Oil – gas 2.75 <br />Anthony Burgoyne – gravel 55.00 <br />Farm Bureau – gas and oil 94.00 <br />E.R. Auto Imp Co – gas and oil 72.91 <br />Coast to Coast – repairs 8.92 <br />City of Minneapolis – Thompson Case 182.88 <br /> <br />
