<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 6, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on March 6, 1961. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. <br /> <br />The clerk read a letter from D.H. Kohl Co in regard to a bill for plumbing at the new liquor store <br />building. They are not satisfied with the check we sent them. The Council claims the work was not <br />satisfactory. A special meeting of the council along with the Kohl Co. and architect Frederick Mosse <br />th <br />was called for April 6 at 8:00 P.M. to consider this matter. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Meyer to make an adjustment with Wm Frye for <br />extra footage he paid for attaching to sewer at the rate of $3.00 per foot. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Larson and seconded by Meyer to offer Bank of Elk River agent of record <br />for all village insurance including Power and Light Commission at 10% of the Commission. The <br />insurance commission to be divided as follows: <br />Bank of Elk River 26% <br />First Nat’l Bank 26% <br />H.L. Johnson 16% <br />G.A. Johnson 16% <br />Jordan Odegard 16% <br /> <br />Vote by roll call was: Meyer yes, Briggs yes, Larson yes, Mayor Johnson abstaining. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Trustee Kemper reported on trip to Highway Dept. He was informed that we would not get <br />permission to get any change of parking on the east side of the downtown park on Highway 101. <br /> <br />There was a discussion in regard to using part of the park for a parking lot. The public is invited to <br />an informal hearing at the next council meeting on April 3 at which time several plans will be <br />offered. <br /> <br />Engineer Mills was present and there was discussion regarding surfacing of some streets in the <br />village. First consideration will be part of Fourth Street near the Handke School. Street near the Post <br />Office and those streets that were paved before sewer and water were put in. <br /> <br />Chief of police and Deputy Moos showed their reports for February. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Wm T Mills – services 50.75 <br />Andy’s Electric – bulbs 6.00 <br /> <br />
