<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 4, 1961 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at Village Hall on January 4, 1961. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; R.G. Kemper, Lars Larson, August Meyer, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and <br />approved. New member Lars Larson took office. <br /> <br />A motion by Kemper and second by Larson to appoint August Meyer as acting mayor in case of the <br />absence of the mayor. Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Meyer and second by Briggs to appoint Wm Patenaude on the Power and Light <br />Commission. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Briggs and second by Larson the following were appointed on the library board: <br />Mrs. Earnest Rathbun, Mrs. John Thompson, Mr. M.L. Lawatch and T.S. Tweeten. Mrs. Rathbun is <br />to take the place of Mr. Robert Hoight who resigned. <br /> <br />Mr. Rydel was present. He agreed to collect trash and garbage from the Municipal Liquor Store, Fire <br />Hall and Village Hall at $6.00 per month. <br /> <br />Upon suggestion by Chief of Police Oliver Micheau the clerk was asked to write the Greyhound Bus <br />Co and ask them to park buses only in the designated place. <br /> <br />Police Chief Micheau suggested signs for no parking at Corner of Highway 10 and 101 and in front <br />of Aton Café. Micheau also was asked to ask garages not to park cars on the sidewalk. <br /> <br />The following committees were appointed by Mayor for 1961: <br /> <br />August Meyer, Acting Mayor <br /> <br />Sewer Committee – Kemper, Larson <br />Liquor Committee – Kemper, Briggs <br />Street Committee – Kemper, Briggs <br />Permit Committee – Meyer, Kemper <br />Park Committee – Larson, Meyer <br />Welfare Committee – Larson, Briggs <br /> <br />Fire Chief – Harry Dreissig. <br /> <br />The following bills were approved: <br />Elk River Utilities – fuel 35.13 <br />Kenneth Warneke – band 11.00 <br /> <br />
