<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 4, 1960 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on April 4, 1960. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, G.R. Bergerson, Trustees; <br />H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />This was the date set for opening bids for a new cash register for the Municipal Liquor Store. Bid of <br />National Cash Register Co for $1385.00 was the only bid received. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Kemper and seconded by Briggs to accept bid of National Cash Register Co. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Meyer and seconded by Bergerson that the Clerk notify August Leider that <br />now that he is no longer in the employ of the Village of Elk River, it is time for him to apply for old <br />age assistance and take care of his own bills. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A delegation composed of Mr. Archie Larson, Mrs. Archie Larson and Mr. John Lundemo met with <br />the Council. They suggested that some more trees be provided for the Village Park and also a tennis <br />court. The reported that the Community Club would donate $1000.00 toward the tennis court <br />$500.00 now and $500.00 in six months. <br /> <br />The matter of the tennis court was turned over to the Park Committee. August Meyer and G.R. <br />Bergerson. <br /> <br />Harold E. Ridel of Anoka was present. He made the Council a proposition regarding the village <br />dump. He agreed to take care of the dump and keep it in shape, he receive the fees charged for <br />dumping and any salvage he can get. Prices for dumping: Refuse brought by car 25 cents, trailer 50 <br />cents truck $1.00 depending on size of truck. No charge to be made for residents of the Village of <br />Elk River. The dump is to be opened only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. til <br />5:30 P.M. During May clean up month dump may stay open til 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Council agreed to try this out and provide a gate. <br /> <br />James Cliff was present. He asked for an extension of the sanitary sewer for some of his lots. He <br />was asked to make request in writing. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Briggs to buy a jeep for the Civil Defense for <br />$135.00. Carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Van Duyn of the Van Duyn Gravel Co. was present. He said he would send us quotations on <br />sand and gravel. Mr. Abe Johnson of the Bank of Elk River and Mr. Gut of the General Insurance <br />Co. met with Council regarding having an agent of record for village insurance. There was some <br /> <br />
