<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />March 7, 1960 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on Mar 7, 1960. <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Mayor; August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, Trustees; H.A. Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The minutes of previous meetings were read <br />and approved. <br /> <br />The council was notified some time ago that Mrs. Zella Page had resigned as librarian. A motion was <br />made by Kemper and seconded by Meyer to accept Mrs. Page’s resignation as of Mar 1, 1960. <br />Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Meyer and second by Kemper to employ Mrs. Rosalie Kemp as librarian beginning Mar <br />1, 1960. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A representative of the National Cash Register Co. was present and showed cuts of a new cash <br />register for the Liquor Store. The cost for a register with chrome finish would be $1360.00. The <br />council felt that the plain finish would be all right. It would be necessary to advertise for bids. <br /> <br />A delegation consisting of Archie Larson, David Plude and M.F. Lane were present at the meeting. <br />They were present at the meeting. They would like to get sewer and water service in the Larson <br />Development just west of the village limits. It was the opinion of the Council that this section would <br />have to be annexed to the village before this could be done. <br /> <br />Norman Thompson was present. He would like to know if he could get the work of servicing of the <br />village police radio. Nothing was done about this at this meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Olson of Juran and Moody met with the Council in regard to the handling of bonds for the <br />th <br />sewer extensions without advertising. A special meeting was called for Mar 14 to consider this <br />matter. Abe Johnson talked with the council regarding village insurance. <br /> <br />The Clerk was asked to write a letter to the Elk River Fire Department commending them for their <br />excellent services at the time of the hotel fire and also thanking them for reducing their wages from <br />$3.00 per hour to $2.00 per for this particular fire. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed <br />Coast to Coast – bulbs 4.12 <br />Donald Davis – shelving 18.00 <br />Banke Electric – wiring 108.95 <br />Uptown Welding – repairs 2.65 <br />First Natl Bank Agcy – ins 997.28 <br />Star News – publishing 55.50 <br />Minn. Fire Ext Co – supplies 75.30 <br />Fire Department – fire 114.00 <br /> <br />
