<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 1, 1959 <br /> <br />A regular meeting was held at the Village Hall on June 1, 1959 <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> Henry Johnson, Pres; G.R Bergerson, August Meyer, R.G. Kemper, Trustees; H.A. <br />Briggs, Clerk <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson reported tha the County has agreed to allow the Village $15,000.00 for street <br />improvement. <br /> <br />A delegation from the Meadowvale section of town met with the Council. Also representative of <br />Upper Town. They are anxious to have sewer service. The construction of these sewers is planned <br />but the Council is unable to set a date at this time. <br /> <br />Ray Patterson, A.E. Balow, Harvard Wakefield and Otis Nickerson were present. The matter of <br />buying the creamery building was discussed. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Bergerson and seconded by Kemper that the village in conjunction with the <br />Power and Light Commission by the assignment of the Contract for Deed to the creamery building <br />from Ray Patterson for the sum of $5,900.00 plus the cost of the original contract of $17,500.00 and <br />interest. The motion carried all voting in favor. <br /> <br />Frank and Otis Nickerson presented a plat of a new addition to the village. A motion was made by <br />Briggs and seconded by Meyer the following resolution be adopted: <br /> <br />Resolved that the Village Council of the Village of Elk River give and hereby does give its <br />preliminary approval of a map or plat of portions of the W ½ of NE ¼ of Section 34 Twp 35 Range <br />26 not otherwise platted, submitted by Frank M Nickerson Administrator of the Estate of Ella B <br />Nickerson, the record owner which map is on file with the Village Clerk, it being the specific <br />understanding that this resolution does not preclude the approval of each part of said map or plat as <br />same may be presented for formal approval by this body from time to time by the owner. Carried. <br /> <br />The matter of Village postal delivery was brought up. A motion was made by Kemper and seconded <br />by Bergerson that the Council go on record as favoring postal delivery and that the Clerk send a <br />letter to that effect to the local postmaster. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mayor and seconded by Bergerson to approximate $200.00 for the Fire <br />Department Convention. Carried. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to thank Engineer Don Nelson for making the plat of the downtown <br />parking lot. <br /> <br />
