Mississippi River and to the low water mark thereof; thence southeasterly along the boundary of said <br />river and the low water mark to the south corporation line of said Village of Elk River, thence due <br />east along said south corporation line to a point 150 feet west of the point where said corporation <br />line intersects the west boundary line of the right of way of the Great Northern Railway; thence <br />running northwesterly and parallel to the west boundary line of the fifth of way of the great <br />Northern Railway to point of beginning, containing 203 acres, more or less, exclusive of existing <br />highway. <br />That thereupon the matter being put to the vote of the Village Council, the following Councilmen <br />voted Aye: G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, George Cornelius, and Wm H Greupner. <br />Thereupon the said motion was declared by the President. <br />Dated at Elk River, Minn. this first day of Aug 1938 <br />Attest Wm H Greupner, Clerk <br />Frank M Nickerson, Pres <br /> <br />Lee Slabck came before the Council stating that there were a number of shut offs on the water <br />works that were hard to locate and wanted to know if he should go ahead and find them. Mr. <br />Slaback was told to located these shut offs and make a marking on them so they could be found. <br /> <br />Roy Ellingson came before the Council stating that he was appointed by the Business Mens <br />Association to see if the village was willing to appropriate some money towards a public address <br />system. Mr. Ellingston was told to see other organizations in the Village and see what they would <br />appropriate, then the Village would decide on the matter. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm H Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude to charge Joe Ledder $1.00 <br />for a dancing permit for every dance he has. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Patenaude to grant the following Bldg permits. <br />Harold Johnson, a garage, Ivan Briggs, a home, the Standards Oil Co an Oil Station. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The annual report of the Library was read and accepted. The clerk instructed to place it on file. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to appoint the following members <br />on the Library board. Mrs. Chas Guptil, Mrs. Chas Babcock and Mrs. A.B. Roehlke. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Chas Nelson, Village pumper, reported that the propeller shaft on the water pump was in bad shape <br />and he thought a new one should be purchased. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by <br />G.A. Bailey to order a new propeller shaft. <br /> <br />It was brought up at this time that John Morrison, traffic cop, had done very good work for the two <br />months he patrolled the Village Streets but it was decided the Village could get along without his <br />services from now on. <br /> <br />Wm Patenaude brought up the matter that there wasn’t any stop sign at the highway on the Street <br />running to the swimming pool. The clerk was instructed to write Mr. Jorgens about this matter. <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co – light and power 259.06 <br />N.W.
