<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />June 7, 1937 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Municipal Bldg Monday June 7, 1937 at 8 <br />o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Members present: <br />J.D. Flaherty, Pres.; G.A. Bailey, Wm Patenaude, Trustees; <br />Wm H Greupner, Clerk. <br /> <br />The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br />J.D. Flaherty told the Council that Ed Halter had spoken to him about Richard Halter building a <br />house in back of his property and asked if something could be done about the water that runs thru <br />there when it rains. Pres. Flaherty appointed G.A. Bailey to take this matter up with Albert <br />Middelstadt. <br /> <br />Dr. Clothier came before the Council in regards to his bill against the Village for the care of Ann <br />Nokk. The bill having been tabled at the last meeting so it could be checked over. Dr. Clothier <br />stated he did not make any more calls then were necessary and he charged as low a rate as he could <br />possible do. After some discussion it was decided to take this bill to be relief office and see if they <br />will pay it. <br /> <br />L.G. Nelson, Mgr E.R. Power and Lt Co, came before the Council asking to have the new light and <br />st <br />power rates accepted which his company will put into effect July 1 1937 whereupon G.A. Bailey <br />moved the adoption of a resolution by the council approving the new schedule which motion was <br />seconded by Wm H Greupner and upon a vote being taken thereon the said resolution was <br />unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />The matter was brought up again about installing stop signs on Main Street. A motion was made by <br />G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to buy an overhead stop sign which would be installed on <br />the intersection of Main and Princeton Street. Also install two curb stop signs and pain three <br />pedestrian lanes at the above said intersection. <br /> <br />Richard Halter asked for a building permit for a home that he is building on Lincoln Street between <br />5” and 6” Streets. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Wm Greupner to grant Richard <br />Halter a building permit. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Fred Ayers fire chief was present and said the fire dept had voted to send three delegates to the <br />firemens convention at Crookston. Chas Roggatz, Dan Hjerpe and Fred Ayers were appointed and <br />wanted the Council to allow them $15.00 a piece for expenses. A motion was made by G.A. Bailey, <br />seconded by Wm Patenaude to allow the delegates $15.00 a piece to attend the convention. <br /> <br />Wm Patenaude was asked to make two signs reading (Trucks over three tons prohibited on this <br />street). The signs to be put on Main Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
