<br />A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Grupner to transfer $1500.00 from the <br />Bond and Int fund to the sinking fund. Motion carried. <br /> <br />It was brought up again at this meeting about the complaints of the citizens of Elk River in regards <br />to the high electric light rates. The Council members all felt that the rate should be reduced <br />immediately otherwise it would be necessary to start planning on putting in their own light system. <br /> <br />The following applicants presented applications to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor. <br />On Sale and Off Sale <br />John Kramer <br />A.L. Parker <br />Bares Café <br />John Blocker <br />A.E. Eklund <br />Geo Gonyea <br />H. Lydia Ogrosky <br />Ralph Hovey <br />Art Karkhoff <br />Chas Jungnickel (off sale only) <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius and carried that these applicants be <br />issued licenses to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor for one year from April 1, 1937 to April 7, 1938. <br />On Sale $50.00 Off Sale $5.00. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Wm Greupner seconded by Wm Patenaude to allow Mr. Satterstrom a <br />license to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor for 1 yr April 7, 1937 to April 7, 1938. <br />Ayes – Greupner, Patenaude, Flaherty <br />Noes – none <br /> <br />F.F. Fish came before the Council and demonstrated a fire extinguisher which is called the red <br />comet. He showed where one of these glass bulbs filled with acid could be thrown in a room where <br />a fire had a good start and it would put the fire out in a minute or two. The kit consisted of 6 bulbs <br />at $12.00. A motion was made by Geo Cornelius seconded by Wm Greupner to purchase one of <br />these kits. Motion carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by G.A. Bailey seconded by Geo Cornelius to allow the following bills and <br />order them payed. <br />N.W. Bell Tele Co – tele rent 5.30 <br />E.R. Power and Lt Co – Light and Power 230.95 <br />Central Lbr Co – fuel 33.30 <br />Fred Ayer – saly 20.00 <br />Harold Sykes – school police 10.00 <br />First Natl Bk – ins 4.48 <br />H.R. Caley – supplies 1.21 <br />H.R. Caley – supplies 121.88 <br />Eklund Drug Co – fumigators 2.75 <br />R.E. Dare – supplies 75.87 <br /> <br />
